Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was conceived on the
17th of November 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who is
a nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver and furniture mover.
Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel started acting as an adult. By
the age 13 she was a part of Shakespearean productions at summer theatre camps.
After graduation, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in Theater.
After making her debut on the episode of Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson
(1998) She was a co-star in the Canadian television show Slings and Arrows
(2003) which was a comedy-drama that focused on the challenges and struggles of
the Shakespearean theatre group. She also was awarded an Gemini award for her
performance in 2003.Her breakout role in the role of Regina George in the hit
comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly catapulted her onto the short list of the
most popular young actresses. The film was followed by the role of a major
character opposite Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks
bestseller The Notebook (2004) The Notebook was a surprising box office hit and
quickly became the main romantic drama for the new young audience of film
lovers. McAdams met Gosling while filming. They dated until mid-2007. McAdams
was then able to showcase her talents onscreen with the manic comedy Wedding
Crashers (2005), the thriller Red Eye (2005), and the Christmas drama The
Family Stone (2005).McAdams then went on to explore the world of independent
film through Married Life (2007), that debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and
also starred Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. After
appearing in The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The Time
Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams also starred alongside Jude Law and Robert
Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams
was the fiery producer of a failed morning TV show in Morning Glory (2010), the
romantic fiancee of materialistic Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris
(2011) and then returned to the romantic drama genre in the critically
acclaimed film The Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams plays the lead
role in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) alongside Ben Affleck and Noomi
Rapacace in Brian De Palma's action thriller Passion (2012).
