Cynthia was the first to begin her long-running career in the business making the move into New York to pursue a career as a fashion model. Her first modeling contract was in the company of Wihelmina Models. This led to her appearing placed on the cover Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover design for Essence was not only one of their best cover designs, but it was Susan Taylor's favourite. Cynthia was able to secure her second cover soon after and set up the stage for a long-lasting career. Her next destination was Paris as well as Milan. Here she was seen walking the catwalks at Paris Fashion Week. Cynthia, who had lived in the United States for nearly a year, re-emerged in New York City where she was highly sought-after. Advertising campaigns in the name of Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's as well as Macy's were her initial assignments. Vogue editorials followed, as did as Glamour magazine Elle, Essence Vanity Fair and Glamour. Cynthia has had some of the most memorable career highlights. She was selected ahead of Naomi Campbell, for a performance in the movie Sandra Bernhadt opposite in the movie "Without You - I am nothing."
