Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed in Washington DC. Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. In 1992, she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist as well as host of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, including budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
